Violet closed last weekend (May 20th), and while of course, I was sad to end it, it’s nice to be home again. And now I have even more inspiration to get my union card. Namely, strike.
I have nothing against strike. I understand that if I’m non-union, they can ask me to help dismantle the set. I just wish there was a better way to arrange things so that you’re not saying goodbye to people when you’re sweaty, smelly and covered with sawdust. I mean, sure, these people saw you at your best and your worst over the past 8 weeks (or whatever). But the last impression they have of you is the aforementiond sweaty mess. What a great way to keep connections.
Anyway, the physical labor is over, and I’m no worse off. Plus I got to come home to a couple of tax refund checks. First time that’s happened since I can remember. It’s also comforting to know that I did them right, finally having liberated myself from my parent’s accountant. I think the whole getting married thing actually helped with the returns.
We’re off to L.A. next week. The first step in our move. We’ll be scouting neighborhoods and doing a lot of driving. Look for us! (like anyone’s reading this)
