Countdown to L.A.

So, we’re coming up on our last month in San Francisco. We’re looking forward to the move but I know I’ll miss The City. The thing about S.F. right now, though, is that while the city itself is as beautiful as ever, many of the people here need some time alone to get over themselves. I think that a lot of people don’t realize (or won’t accept) that It’s Over Folks.

San Francisco was riding high for a while and the residents, native and transplants alike, were riding right up there with it. We were at the center of the economic boom, but the economic boom went ‘Pop!’ I think everyone is just trying to grasp on to that last extra-foam soy latte before they realize that they’re not overpaid, overworked tech gurus anymore. They’re just overworked (if they’re lucky enough to still have jobs).

But enough about that. What’s that have to do with acting? Not a lot, but there’ll be some great TV movies about the dot-commers in the years to come.

So, we’re counting down the days, checking prices on moving vans (ouch!) and getting ready for the end of July when we leave our hearts in San Francisco. And hope that the mean people who live here just leave.

L.A. Update

Had a great time in L.A. this weekend. We scouted out a few locations, it’s looking like we’re going to focus on finding a place in West Hollywood. Santa Monica was a bit pricey, but we’ll still look there in case we get lucky.

Our definite move date is August 1st. Cyndi and I are both giving notice tommorrow (if all goes well) that our last day will be July 27th.

Unfortunately, this whole Moving-to-LA-To-Be-An-Actor thing is putting any acting on the back burner. It would be difficult to get involved in a project that would finish in time and also allow time for moving needs: Packing, going back to LA mid-July to nail down a place. So that’s kind of a bummer. I guess I could look for some local indies or student films. Of course, there are no students this time of year. We’ll see, though.
