On Thursday I was just at the beginning of one of those actor slumps. As much as I tried to fight it, I could feel myself starting to feel very far away from my goal. I’m sure there were many reasons for this, Tuesday’s events probably being a major factor. Not finding any work for Friday was minor factor, but a factor nonetheless.
With perfect timing the phone rang. It was Summer at Central. She told me that they wanted me back on Men In Black for a matching shot. OK. And it’s on a SAG voucher. “Absolutely!” So, after a relatively short 10 hour day, I walked away with number one of three SAG vouchers. And much better pay for a day’s work.
And now I’m in the midst of an exciting game of phone tag with my photographer, and we’ve nearly got an appointment set up for Thursday. I should have been doing this a while ago, but I’ll finally have some decent headshots. So I’ll be able to submit for other projects hopefully by next week. Don’t get me wrong, except for the pay, and sometimes the lack of respect, I really don’t mind doing extra work. It keeps me busy and at least on the cusp of the industry. But there are only so many times you can walk back and forth without saying anything.

So, I’m not even going to try to catch up on everything. Lets just say I’ve been relatively busy working long hours for little money. Ah, the glamourous life of Hollywood.
In all seriousness, I’ve been having a great time. I registered at Central about 4 weeks ago and have been working at least 3 times a week since then. In fact, as I was sitting in registration I was asked to go to a fitting for Men In Black 2. So I did. That was a fun weeks work, plus I got to wear the cool MIB suit. In addition to MIB, I’ve also worked ER (twice), Gilmore Girls, Providence, Crossing Jordan, Alias and Buffy. (This is all background work, BTW) Oh, and West Wing, but I’m not sure if that counts, since I never actually got to work. They ended up only needing 3 of the 4 Uniformed Secret Service guys and I lost the Ro-Sham-Bo tournament.
Alias was a long night. Well, it was only 8 hours, so it technically was rather short, but those 8 hours started at 10:30pm. But it was a really cool set. I’m actually working it again on Monday. They called me for that, which is nice. If for no other reason that that I didn’t have to play the redial game this afternoon to try to get through to Central.
I’m going to try to compile what show’s I’ve worked and when they’ll air. Maybe a brief description of which 5 seconds I may appear briefly in the background. Click here to see that.
